Sherrie Trede Black, RN, LAc, has a passionate interest in the health and wellbeing of women. She has a Post Masters Certificate in Women’s Holistic Health from Tai Sophia Institute, and works closely with women through all phases of their lives and reproductive cycles. Using acupuncture to restore the body’s natural balance and fluidity, Sherrie has helped her clients get relief from numerous women’s health concerns, including:

● Infertility
● Nausea and vomiting, low back pain, and carpel tunnel pain, and other issues associated with pregnancy
● Postpartum challenges, including lactation
● Irregular and painful periods
● Endometriosis
● Fibroids
● Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
● Menopausal symptoms
● Side effects related to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation used to treat breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer

Sherrie has studied with such notable wise women and healers as Judith Duerk, author of many books, including Circles of Stone, and Dr. Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure and The Way to the Fertile Soul. She has also studied with Donna Keefe, L.Ac., a noted specialist in fertility and other women's health care issues and teacher at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, California.

Sherrie is profoundly aware of Acupuncture’s power as a preventative and healing modality and how it can improve the health and wellbeing of her clients. Sherrie’s diverse experience as a Registered Nurse in surgical and cardiac intensive care, oncology, and post-operative open heart surgery at various hospitals, including the Clinical Center at NIH, has led her to appreciate the benefits western diagnostics and treatment can offer. Many of her clients benefit from integrating East/West medical approaches. She wants to know how your western treatments are going, and she also wants to make sure that her treatment plan supports and facilitates the healthcare decisions you are making with other providers. She will help you understand how acupuncture, combined with dietary and lifestyle changes, and nutritional supplementation, can support your western care and, at the same time, reduce the need for as many prescription drugs.  She is eager to maintain a relationship with your western medical providers, and engage in regular contact with them to optimize your health outcomes.

Sherrie obtained a Diploma in Nursing from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, a BA in Sociology from George Washington University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law, American University. As a lawyer for 30 years, she acted as mediator, litigator and counsel. Sherrie's clients value the insight she gained as a lawyer to see the big picture and speak with clarity. Through attentive listening, she is able to support and coach them on ways to meet their life objectives and live their passions.

Sherrie received her Masters of Acupuncture from Tai Sophia Institute in Maryland, where she subsequently became part of the acupuncture faculty and served as a clinic supervisor. She played a pivotal role in planning and opening the Wellness Center at Howard Community College where she continues to supervise Tai Sophia students in community based acupuncture. As a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Zero Balancing Practitioner, Sherrie has successfully treated a wide array of diseases and symptoms, including neck and back pain, orthopedic surgery rehabilitation, hypertension, IBS, migraines, anxiety, and depression, to name a few.

Sherrie elegantly integrates her life experiences as wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, with her knowledge of Eastern and Western Medicine, and her extensive training in nutrition and nutritional supplementation. Her patient and tending nature gives them the space to engage in this process at their own unique pace.

Sherrie is a student of Tai Chi Ch'uan and Qi Gong. She values these ancient practices in her personal life for their calming and restorative powers. Sherrie is committed to being fully present to each moment for herself and her clients. She creates an environment in her treatment room that encourages her clients to meet each day with gratitude and to see the small daily gifts that give life meaning.
