Alison Cox

Alison, Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), has been practicing massage therapy for nearly 10 years. The foundation of her training includes Swedish massage, deep tissue, and Myofascial Release. Fueled by a passion to learn, and to better serve the needs of her clients, she has acquired skills in many different modalities such as trigger point release, reflexology, active isolated stretching, sports massage and Thai massage. She is currently studying Ortho-Bionomy, a gentle non-invasive, osteopathic-based form of therapy highly effective for chronic stress, injuries and pain, or problems associated with postural or structural imbalances. It uses gentle movements, and positioning of the body to facilitate a change in stress and pain patterns with its focus on the comfort of the client. Alison graduate d from the Baltimore School of Massage in 1999. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), and is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB).

Alison’s path into the healing arts revealed itself to her gradually.
She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. from the school of Business and Management, concentrating in Marketing. After graduation, she accepted a position in retail management and merchandising with Garfinckel’s department store. She found her niche as a Cosmetic and Fragrance department manager, which opened the door to her next position with L’Oreal USA.

For ten years she worked as an successful account executive for the Designer Fragrance division, marketing brands such as Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Paloma Picasso, and Guy Laroche, to well-known retailers such as Hecht’s and Nordstrom.

To help her cope with a 60-80 hour work week and its hectic pace, Alison depended on massage therapy to ease stress and help alleviate muscle pain. The bodywork felt great on her tired muscles, but what amazed her was how the massage left her so focused and clear thinking. A feeling of general well being and balance replaced the overwhelming stress, and she was able to work more efficiently and effectively. Experiencing these profound effects inspired her to change her career focus. She wanted to share the powerful, transformational effects of massage with others.

Today, massage therapy fulfills Alison’s lifelong interest in health and wellness. “I am now doing something that is personally satisfying and rewarding, bringing balance and purpose to my life.”

Alison is committed to maintaining a standard of excellence, continuing education, and credibility among massage therapists. “My goal,” she says, “is to provide a warm and caring environment for my clients to experience therapeutic and healing results.” She truly enjoys the opportunity to nurture her clients through touch as well as foster their own ability to heal themselves. “I never tire of hearing my clients tell me how much better they feel after treatment. And I get as much healing from their experience as they do mine.”
